Analyses pathogen populations to understand the global spread of AMR.

Silvia analyses population-level pathogen genome sequences in the context of global surveillance and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and informs the development of web tools for pathogen surveillance in public health. Her work also focuses on the implementation of whole-genome sequencing for surveillance of AMR in collaboration with teams in Argentina, Colombia, India, Nigeria and the Philippines. Silvia is an instructor in several genomics courses, and has trained research and public health staff in bacterial genomics. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Aberdeen, UK, and an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
