We are pleased to share a new paper from the India site of the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Genomic Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance, led by colleagues at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology.
The study examines clinical Acinetobacter baumannii isolates collected across India, exploring how biofilm formation varies by genetic lineage and how this relates to widespread multidrug resistance. Using whole-genome sequencing alongside detailed phenotypic analysis of 230 isolates collected between 2015 and 2022, the work deepens our understanding of how lineage, persistence, and resistance intersect in a pathogen of major concern for healthcare settings.
